I’ve got a great repair kit, just in case the worst happens (and occasionally it does). It is no longer necessary to replace the fabric of the awning if it gets cut! Fiamma have created an awning repair kit for around £10, it’s an absolute life saver. The kit includes 3 Transparent PVC Strips 150mm x 60mm to repair any holes in an awning in seconds, allowing a quick fix to a potentially horrible situation. I’ve only used mine the once, and I noticed I had a hole 4 or 5 inches across. All I had to do was apply the clear patch and that was it. You could hardly see where the rip had even occurred. It’s a great addition and a life saver when you need it.

I got it from Discover on this occassion as they had it in for the best price. Click on the following link to get yours as well - Awning Repair Kit.

When you consider what the alternatives to the kit are as well, a new awning which can run well into the thousands, or an awning that will eventually have a new unwanted door appearing in the side, it may well be the best £10 investment you ever make. In terms of whether the kit will last and how long term a replacement it is, im really not sure. Anyone had any good experiences of the kit or any horror stories about how it has not worked for them after taking the awning out a week after repairing it.
