Awning Sizing
If this is your first time buying an awning then you may be wondering what size you will need, you first of all need to establish the size of awning required to fit your caravan or motorhome.
To do this you need to measure what is called the “A” dimension by running some (non-stretchy) string through the awning channel making sure it touches the floor at each end. This length of string, usually measured in centimetres, e.g. 925 cm, is the awning size you need for your motorhome or caravan.
You can see in the picture to the right the red outline of the “A” frame where you need to run the string in order to get an accurate measurement for your awning.
When fitting your awning it is unlikely any modifications will need to be made to your caravan or motorhome. Most awnings now come with built-in awning pole pads which don't need to be attached to the frame.
A few manufacturers have different sizing guides so it can be beneficial to check their websites just to make sure you have exactly the right measurements to avoid any problems.
